Rotating Face Clock

My sister asked for a clock for Christmas.

She should be careful what she asks for since she got a clock where the face rotates, rather than the hands.

This clock modification involved removing the hands and face from a $4 basic clock from Target, creating three discs from a polycarbonate sheet and attaching them where the hands were.    Add a little custom graphic work and she got what she wanted – a clock that is always read from the top.

Each of the three discs, – one for the hours, one for the minutes, and another for the seconds, rotates independently on the same mechanisms as the original hands.  To read the clock, look at the top of largest outside ring for the hour.  Similarly, read the top of middle ring for the minutes and the top of the smallest center ring for the seconds.   In the picture, the clock reads 3:05 and 30 seconds.
