I’m inspired to make another cutting board and try for a 3-D illusion –

 

Start with a pile of several hardwoods from my stash – oak and three other unknowns with good colors.

Cut lots of shaped rods, glue them, cut them, sand them, cut them again, glue them again…..lots of sawdust!

Finally, the shape is coming together.

The final board, oiled and ready to use:

It’s not quite the illusion I was hoping for, but it works.
